To Macclesfield Love Mia (in support of Cardiac Risk in the Young) & Macclesfield Boys Boxing Club

This year for our 30th anniversary, we are supporting two fantastic local causes!

Mia Jennings was a 19-year-old from Macclesfield whose life was tragically cut short after she suffered a sudden cardiac event. Mia was a much-loved daughter, friend, and member of the local community, remembered for her kind personality and the positive impact she had on those around her. In her memory, to Macclesfield love Mia was created to support the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and help prevent similar tragedies from happening to other families. The fund raises money to provide heart screening for young people aged 14–35, allowing hidden heart conditions to be detected early and potentially saving lives. The Macclesfield community has come together to support this cause through a variety of fundraising events, including charity runs, local events, and the well-supported Macclesfield tractor run. Through these efforts, Mia’s legacy continues to make a difference by raising awareness and funding life-saving cardiac testing which has seen hundreds of youngsters across Macclesfield be tested.

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) is a UK charity dedicated to preventing sudden cardiac deaths in young people. The organisation works to raise awareness of hidden heart conditions, provide cardiac screening for young people aged 14–35, and support families who have lost loved ones to sudden cardiac death. Through research, education, and community fundraising, CRY aims to identify heart conditions early and help save lives by giving young people access to vital heart tests.

Cardiac Risk in the Young is a Registered Charity in England & Wales (1050845) & in Scotland (SC052581)

Macclesfield Boys Boxing Club is a non-profit amateur boxing club based in Macclesfield that provides a safe and professionally run environment for people to learn and train in boxing. A word from the Regional Fundraiser

“We are so grateful to the team at MaccBeerFest for choosing the MND Association as its Charity of Year, helping to raise vital funds and awareness of this cruel disease.

Every penny you help to raise during the course of this fabulous weekend will make a huge difference to people who are living with MND and their families. Through our range of support grants, we can offer help in a very practical way, helping to fund access to equipment, days out and contributions to support carers and young carers. Our Cost-of-Living Fund is also there to support anyone living with MND who is facing financial hardship as a result of the ongoing cost of living crisis.

To people living with MND and their families, your support really does mean the world, thank you.”
